General Discussion / Re: Spells file wrong?

Once you download from Steam, drop our patcher into the EQ directory and run it. Should be all good to go after that. :)

Vegarlson Server Rules & Info / Vegarlson Patcher!

Rejoice! You can now setup your EQ directory from a clean install of RoF2 using our Vegarlson Asylum Patcher/Updater

This will download all the Vegarlson Asylum server files. This includes all files needed to login and play on VA plus my custom UI (that I included just for grins).

Steps to run:
- Drop in your EQ directory - Make sure this is a fresh install of the RoF2 client
- Double Click
- Profit!

This patcher will download all necessary configuration, zone, spell, skill and global models files. You should have to do nothing else but run this in a fresh RoF2 client directory

Once you run the patcher, it will also update itself to the latest version of the EXE. If you wish to patch a new install, you must, MUST, MUST run the patcher EXE from the zip file. The zipped version is at 1.0 and will always download all files from scratch. If you are having issues, try this first.

See you in game!

It's normal later on. Worth mentioning one way or another for sure.

Just wanted to post here for a broader audience than the Changelog...

This was modified last week. It should be down under 5 minutes, which is acceptable.

General Discussion / What makes us not like classic (Live) EQ (?)
« on: March 10, 2015, 02:56:27 PM »
I have been thinking about this, and I think we need to come up with a list of things that deviate from the "Live" or "classic" experience. I think this would be good mixed into a 'what's VA all about' type writeup.

Here's what I'm talking about:

  • Item Stacks - No more cluttering your bags with small item stacks! All stackable items now stack to 100!
  • Hunger/Thirst - You do need to carry food on VA, but you'll find it's barely consumed at all. Find the best food/drink around and not have to worry about consuming it all while AFK!
  • Revamped/New Zones - While we have steered clear of some revamped zones (Freeport - yuck!), we have chosen to leave some of them in. A couple examples are Paw and Cazic-Thule.
  • Expanded Zones - Just like revamped zones, we chose to leave in some of the zones added later. Veksar, anybody?
  • Special items - We have setup a couple of special vendors selling things like mounts from later expansions.
  • Improved translocators - No more waiting for a boat or spires. Get where you're going quickly!
  • Legacy Items - Relive the really old days camping that Manastone or maybe a pair of Jboots!
  • Corpse Dragging - You can /corpsedrag up to 4 corpses (instead of 2)
  • Pets - Pets zone with you. They also will not die when you FD or invis.
  • Quests - We've increased the drop rates for items for a select (few) number of quests to make them less of a roadblock when they shouldn't be.

I'm sure there's more, of course, but this seems like a good start. See what I'm after?

If it hadn't crashed, yeah. I mean, does it seem to you that I'm in the habit of just taking stuff down on a whim w/o any notice? This isn't typical and just "one of those things".

We suspended our first sets of players for hacking today. Be warned that if you're doing things you're not supposed to, you'll be next.

And the link for the caster group window (with mana bar):

Here's the UI I've pieced together over the years. Several of the pieces are my own work, and some I just stole or modified from others.

Full UI Screenshot

Combination Group + Player Window

I created this a long time ago by expanding the group window to include player stats at the top. I found that I often just put these two windows together anyway, so why not save some space and combine them? Shows all relevant info for both groupmates and pets.

Buff + Bard Buff Windows

I love this buff window. It will support way more than enough buffs. Will do blue for beneficial buffs and red for detrimental. Yellow will show up for buffs that affect the out of combat timer (even though it's not in use on Vegarlson).
Though it's hard to tell, the bard buff window is the same. It just has labels on the right side (which you can hide if you resize the window).

All 12 hotkeys + primary/secondary slots.
8 inventory slots (mini icons)
10 commonly clicked equipment slots (mini icons). From top to bottom: Neck, Shoulders, Ear, Ear, Range, Face, Back, Chest, Ring, Ring

Custom Target

This is actually a modified player window. It will flash when attack is on (as pictured).
Note: The reason this had to be a modified player window is because it's the only window that can animate with attack.
Note 2: This requires a small modification to the actual target window objects, but otherwise leaves that UI piece available as well.

This is the real target window. This one shows the target, an con color background, and target buffs.

An old stock-inspired window that I've edited and morphed over the years to keep up with the various things added to the game.

You can see I have pretty specific tastes, but I hope this helps somebody else out. I know it works pretty well for me!
I guess that's about it. If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

After the whirlwind of work we've all put in on this, rushing it would be the wrong thing to do right now. We're close.

In the mean time, go out and download the RoF2 client from Steam. We're going to be using that one:
