Hey guys! I'm not dead. Just wanted to get that out of the way...

2017 was a crazy year for me. 2018 isn't going to be a ton better from the look of it, but I've got enough of a handle on it to finally push and get PoP finished.

I apologize for not getting this done before now. My sincere hope is to have T1 and hopefully T2 completed before the 3-year anniversary in February.

As you may or may not be aware, I had some data loss on the forums a few months ago. I restored a backup from May, which didn't capture a lot of the bug reports and fixed that'd been put in. As such, I just marked all of them closed to kind of start clean.

If you notice something that needs attention, just put in a new one if you would. I'm going to begin working through little things again. Which leads me to the most important point...

We've currently removed the flag requirements on most of the T1 PoP zones.
- Plane of Valor (which was opened up a while back for testing, but not super widely communicated)
- Plane of Storms
- Crypt of Decay
- Plane of Torment

I beg you - please put in bug reports for out of era items and other issues you normally would. Loot, spawns, pathing, difficulty, etc. Clearly I'm not going to be super militant about what drops or doesn't during the testing phase, so you're on your honor to not abuse it.

Level restrictions do still apply for these zones.

As the subject says, I have implemented the new AC/stat changes on the test server.

What does this mean?
The way combat calculations are done has been corrected upstream in the EQEmu server to do calculations just like Live. As a result, the existing NPC stats (which are very often inflated) are incorrect for the new code. This currently would make most NPCs crazy difficult. So the stats have to be adjusted for NPCs across the board.

What do we need from you?
Basically we need as much comparison data as we can get. Melee parses, spell parses, etc. The goal is to maintain nearly the same level of difficulty as the existing server.

Where is the test server?
The name of the test server is Shakedown Street. It should show up in the server list for you.

Other important things to note.
  • Please be aware this affects any and all NPCs. If you're wondering if something needs tested, it does.
  • Please be specific when comparing. Using parses are the only real way to have workable data.
  • Remember to turn those logs on!

Copying your configs
You can either use the in-game settings to copy your UI layout, hotkeys, etc. or you can copy them manually by renaming the files. To use this method:

Copy <Character>_vegarlson.ini to <Character>_shakedown.ini
This should get you up and running.

Reporting your findings
I have created an "AC Changes" category on the Bug reporting system . Please report your findings in tickets within that system. Anecdotal data is not helpful! PLEASE BE DETAILED!

Rogues (and others) can now buy properly while sneaking. For real this time.
Vendors will no longer face you when you open them. This is Live-like and should work nicely with the sneak buying above.

Added pathing for NPCs in Veeshan's Peak. Also put in new server-side maps. NPCs should no longer path through walls.
Finished up some changes to the 8th shawl quest in Iceclad. The general should work much better now. He's also indifferent to all.
Removed a duplicate Shaded Stones spawn from Akheva.

Elemental bane damage will no longer hit NPCs that require a specific race bane to be damaged. This is most notable for Seru and Emperor.
Elemental bane damage will now factor into backstab damage.
Experience messages will now show the % gained. This is a trial feature and may or may not stick around.

Ground spawns in East Wastes and Wakening will now appear properly throughout the zone. More zones will be fixed soon.
Sneak buying should now show all items on a vendor, and not just the ones that have been sold to the merchant.

NPCs in Akheva and Maiden's Eye should now be KOS again.
Thought Horror Evokers in The Deep will now cast spells.
Named NPCs in The Deep won't spawn quite as often now.

Vegarlson Server Rules & Info / New updater - Please read!

As of today, 8/29/2016, there's a better way to patch your VA client directory.

Today I pushed out 3 files. Here they are and what they do.
  • Update.bat - Scripted updater
  • cygwin1.dll - Library for the rsync executable
  • rsync.exe - This is what does the download/sync

What this will do is go through the current directory - be it your EQ directory, or any directory you put the files in - and validate all the files against what's on the server. If there is a new version of a file, or a new file, it'll pull it down. If an existing file has changed or been removed, it will redownload as well.

This has some real benefits. Here are a few.
  • You can download the client files to any directory. Even an empty one. This is a good way to keep an 'offline' copy of the client files to share with your friends or copy to another computer.
  • Way easier to update. Now all we have to do when we push a new spell file is drop it in a directory on a server and it'll sync up with you.
  • Bandwidth savings. If you don't need the file, it doesn't download the file. Previously the only way to get all the files was to download over 500MB. This will drastically change that.
  • Easily replace corrupted or lost files. No more wondering if you have everything. You'll be sure it's all right now.

This will require administrator privileges to run, and should prompt you if necessary.
THIS WILL BE SLOW THE FIRST TIME. BE PATIENT. Subsequent runs will be very fast.

Please let me know ASAP if there are any issues. This should be a really great way to do this, but it's probably going to have a kink or two that needs to be ironed out.

UI / Changelogs now in Story window

I put this in the changelog, but it's worth posting here also I think.

I just started converting the changelogs to work with the Story window (Alt + N). This should provide an easier way to look at changes, since I know not a lot of people come to the website regularly (even though I wish they would!)
